Nanoparticles for delivery of active agents
 
Lillard, Singh and Singh of the Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia, developed milled nanoparticles for delivering drugs.  5 nm to 60 micron nanoparticles are formed by planetary ball milling with active agents and coating materials with >99% loading efficiency. The active agents include fluorescent, bioluminescent, and/or radio-isotope agents in a biopolymer such as alginate, cellulose, starch or collagen.  The particle coatings contain polycaprolactone or polyethylene glycol or both.
