3. 8,257,899
Polyester process

Sacripante of the Xerox Corporation, Connecticut, prepared unsaturated polyesters by reacting an organic diol with a cyclic alkylene carbonate in the presence of a first catalyst to form a polyalkoxy diol, optionally adding thereto a further amount of cyclic alkylene carbonate in the presence of a second catalyst, and subsequently polycondensing the resulting mixture with a dicarboxylic acid in combination with an anhydride.  (RDC 9/14/2012)

2. 8,193,112
Catalysts for the polymerization of cyclic esters

Hayes and Wheaton of the University of Lethbridge, Canada, developed cationic divalent metal catalysts for the polymerization of cyclic esters such as lactones. (RDC 6/26/2012)

1. 8,192,694
Polyester production system employing an unagitated esterification reactor

DeBruin of Grupo Petrotemex, Mexico, developed a polyester production system using a vertically elongated esterification reactor.  This reactor requires little or no mechanical agitation. The positioning of the inlets and outlets of the reactor is important.  (RDC 6/19/2012)xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
